African Centre for Media Excellence

“The African Centre for Media Excellence is a Kampala-based independent, non-profit professional organisation that is committed to excellence in journalism and mass communication in Africa.

ACME’s main goal is to make the media a more effective platform for the provision of information on public affairs, a tool for monitoring official power, and a forum for vibrant public debate.”

The site contains both research and publications as well as online resources for journalists on issues related to freedom of expression, human rights, regional affairs and more. The organisation also offers training opportunities for journalists in Africa.

Collaboration on International ICT Policy in East and Southern Africa (CIPESA)

CIPESA is a leading centre for research and analysis for policymakers and various stakeholders in Africa on the use of ICT to improve livelihoods. They produce work and guidance on the internet and freedom of the media in the digital age, promote online freedoms in Africa, and each year they produce the ‘State of Internet Freedom in Africa’ report.
